Dear Gibbon Family,
My wife and I are truly honored and excited to join the Gibbon

educational family and the community of Gibbon. Tracy and I

have been impressed with the level of support offered to the school district and the commitment

to ensuring students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for an extremely competitive world.

A little information about my family. Tracy and I have been married for 35 years and have three wonderful children. We have two sons. Cody (31) is a social studies teacher and coach, and Micah (27) is a physical education, strength & conditioning coach. Both Cody and Micah are teachers in the South Sioux City Community School District. Our daughter Dana (19) is in her second year at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln majoring in special education. We love to attend high school activities and athletic events and Big Red football games. Tracy and I enjoy camping with our dog Harley and airboating with friends on the Platte River.
Throughout the interview process, I shared a “transition” plan created to help me introduce myself and learn more about the Gibbon community. I also offered three priorities that will help us focus once we join the Gibbon family. It is my sincere hope that both pieces of information will help establish a sense of direction, build relationships with each of you, and generate a feeling of trust as we begin our tenure with the community. Mr. Witt has been gracious by placing this initial communiqué on the district’s website, and he has agreed to include the transition plan and the three priorities as well. It is my hope that you will review this information and share your thoughts when we have a chance to visit.
To begin the transition process, I plan on being in the school district on Friday, February 24^th and Saturday, February 25^th. On Friday, February 24^th, I plan on being in the school district to visit with Mr. Witt and the administrative team, students, and staff. My initial goal on this visit is to be visible and take advantage of an opportunity to begin building relationships with each of you. On Saturday, February 25^th, I plan on joining Mr. Witt and the board of education at our winter retreat. I am eager to begin the process of connecting with the community and getting to know each of you.
In terms of communication, I have been using the following email address during the transition process and until I can secure a Gibbon email address. Tracy and I had the privilege of joining the Gibbon community at last Saturday’s district wrestling tournament. We enjoyed meeting new friends, visiting with new colleagues, and watching our student-athletes compete … and they did COMPETE. Tracy and I appreciated those of you who dropped by to introduce yourself and welcomed us into the Gibbon Family. We were truly grateful.

A special thank you to Mr. Witt for his time and energy to help acclimate me into the school district and the community. I look forward to learning more from Mr. Witt and visiting with him throughout the transition process.

Tracy and I wish to thank the board of education and all those who participated in the process of interviewing candidates who wished to serve as your superintendent. The interview process was intensive and required folks to volunteer their time to represent the entire community. I was impressed with the questions, the willingness to have a dialogue, and the overall commitment to the mission of Gibbon Public Schools.
