Brimming with humour & spontaneity, acclaimed Triple ARIA award-winning band Monsieur Camembert mix the wild Gypsy rhythms of Eastern Europe with Klezmer, Latin, tango and jazz. Monsieur Camembert performances have become synonymous with an atmosphere of celebration, theatre and cultural enrichment. This is gutsy, emotive and irresistibly danceable music, played with originality and virtuosity. The catholics have been blending hard jazz blowing with dance rhythms from around the world since their founding in 1991 by bassist Lloyd Swanton. Throughout their beautifully crafted and instantly accessible pieces runs a strong, seductive dance strain found in the band's various African, Caribbean, Latin and Eastern influences. The band have won a Mo Award for Best Jazz Group, and three of their six acclaimed albums have been nominated for ARIA Awards. Lloyd Swanton presents Mixed Marriage on Eastside 89.7FM.
