This type of device includes many different devices, from some smartphones to virtual reality rooms (CAVEs). Systems of this type form the illusion of a volumetric object for the user by displaying specially formed projections of virtual objects generated on the basis of information about the position of the user's eyes on one or several displays. When changing the position of the user's eyes relative to the displays, the image on them changes accordingly. All systems of this type use the visual mechanism of perception of the volumetric image, motion parallax (Motion Parallax).

Also, for the most part, they provide a stereo image output using stereo displays, using stereoscopic vision. Tracking systems for MotionParallax3D displays track the coordinates of users' eyes in space. For this, various technologies are used: optical (determining the coordinates of the user's eyes in the image from the camera, tracking active or passive markers), much less often ultrasonic.

Additional devices such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, and magnetometers are frequently used in tracking systems. The precision of monitoring the location of the user in space, as well as the shortest latency between the detection of a change in the position of the head in space and the presentation of the associated picture, are critical for systems of this sort. Systems of this type come in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from full-immersion virtual rooms to three-inch virtual reality screens.
