A few years ago my friend Harry Davies experienced a crisis in his life that taught him to appreciate the

generosity of people. Harry had many good friends but none of them lived his neighbourhood. He had acquaintances who lived nearby, of course, but he never said more than “Hello. How are you?” to them. One day Harry returned home to find that his mother was very ill. He tried to call a doctor, but unfortunately, the telephone was out of order. He thought about walking to the doctor`s office, but the closest was too far. So he ran to one of the neighbouring apartment houses and within moments three or four people offered to drive him and his mother to the hospital. Harry was deeply grateful and his mother recovered soon.
