Table 5.4 provides indexes measuring the performance of logistics

and 
infrastructure, as computed by the World Bank. Uzbekistan scores the second 
lowest in both indexes, after the Kyrgyz Republic. Thus, Uzbekistan can still 
improve a lot to achieve the full potential of its logistics and infrastructure. 
For transit to benefit the domestic Uzbekistan economy, a cross-border 
investment push is required to improve transport infrastructure. In this 
context, the PRC’s Belt and Road Initiative could play a substantial role in 
facilitating logistics infrastructure. When accompanied with the necessary 
institutional harmonization, policy cooperation on cross-border investment 
can lead to a more transparent market for goods and services (EBRD 2003). 
Furthermore, a recent analysis from Kazakhstan shows that improving the 
efficiency of transport and logistics could significantly help to increase firm-
level productivity (ADB 2018).

trade infrastructure, ease of arranging competitively priced shipping, quality of logistics services, ability to 
track and trace assignments, and timeliness in shipments reaching destinations.
