UX feedback notes from sessions with Hugh and Poornima
Notice we tracked the questions we planned on asking AND the questions we asked to dig
deeper into some of the initial feedback. After the this node, we'll ask you to consider which bits
of feedback here are actionable.
Questions we asked:
Does the user easily see how to create a new event?
(hope is they find the FAB)
● Hugh: yes! He was unsure whether that would include a date as a default.
● Poornima: yep. Use the FAB.
Does the FAB get confusing when it is in a different place, as in the list screen?
(hope is
no)
● Hugh: Nope, I expect it to be around the bottom sometimes, and it's clear enough that it
doesn't bother me.
● Poornima: I like it near the hero banner, rather than at the bottom.
Is the FAB too big on the week page?
(hope is no)
● Hugh: no, it will cover something, but not that much.
● Poornima: the users would be able to work around it, but it might block content.
Can users find the way to check off tasks?
(hope is that they easily find the checkboxes on
the day screen)
● Hugh: I don't really see anything that says this has to do's at all. Everything looks like a
calendar to me has times, places. No checkboxes that I can see.
● Poornima: I see these check buttons on the date screen. I saw the checkbox there.
maybe it would have been harder if they were all grey circles.
How do we make the checkboxes stand out more?
(only asked to hugh.)
● Hugh: Circular checkbox might be worse than box. Also, the location and time seems to
be super prominent on the events, rather than the task.
○ HUGH ALSO NOTICED THAT THE TWO SCREENS WERE SUPER SIMILAR.
WE SHOULD RECONSIDER THIS.
What would you like to happen when you check off a todo?
(no preference. simply
gathering info.)
● Hugh: I'd like to have them crossed out, and maybe eventually gone. When it's a
calendar I don't want them gone, though.
● Poornima: I'd want it to disappear from the list immediately.
How would you expect a user to use gestures to check things off?
(no preference. simply
gathering info.)
● Hugh: I would expect a tap to get us to a detail screen, unless you're tapping on the
checkbox. not sure what a swipe might do, could train users but isn't intuitive.
● Poornima: maybe a delete by swiping one way, a menu by swiping the other?
Would you like to be able to check things off from the home screen?
(no preference.
simply gathering info.)
● Hugh: VERY YES. people won't use the app as a todo list if you have to go through
multiple screens. Also, can't accomplish events from detail view.
● Poornima: yes, it would be convenient to be able to do that.
Where would you expect to find a delete button?
(no preference. simply gathering info.)
● Hugh: edit ui somewhere. Possibly also a gesture on the list.
● Poornima: maybe a delete or a cancel on the detail or creation screen.
