ABSTRACT
Grammar is simply the use of rules while speaking, or writing. It is the whole system and structures of all languages in general. The present study entitled Teaching English Grammar attempts to investigate the best methods of teaching and learning English Grammar. Based on Muhamad’s research paper and Mart’s article, that they both support the importance of teaching and learning grammar inductively or in a context, which is different from traditional and deductive methods of teaching Grammar. The study aims to facilitate the process of teaching and learning Grammar. This review paper provides an overview about what is Grammar and how should be taught appropriately. For this purpose, the following procedures were adopted: (1) a comprehensive reading and literature review about Grammar and Grammar teaching& learning, in another word, getting benefit from secondary sources. (2) Collecting an MA thesis and an academic journal and providing them as a sample for the purpose of paper review. (3) Throughout this review paper, each single point from the very beginning which is the title up until the conclusion, all have been observed and compared to find similarities and differences between their studies. Besides, the strong points and weak points of each that they might hold are observed and compared to evaluate the study and to provide suggestion, or recommendations about the important points that need to be taken into considerations when writing a paper. The study includes 7 sections. The first section is an evaluation of the titles. Second, their abstracts are compared and evaluated. Third, their, introductions which includes the statement of the problem, the aim of the study, research questions, hypothesis, data collection, procedures along with the limitations and the value of the study are explained for the comparison purposes. Then, their theoretical background, literature review. Furthermore, the methodology has been explained and compared. Finally, the conclusions, including recommendations for further study and appendixes have been compared with providing strength and weak points of each with some examples of their findings have also been provided.
