ANNOUNCEMENT OF MASTER'S DISSERTATION
Relevance of the topic: Research One of the most effective skills in teaching and learning English is speech, which should focus on how students use and communicate in English. Most foreign language learners evaluate their success in their speaking and oral English courses on the basis of their achievements and speaking skills, so teachers need to create a conducive environment for their learners to develop in the learning process. . In fact, many Uzbek students can read and write in English, but they cannot express themselves independently, they cannot speak fluently. They always face difficulties in practicing this effective skill. This led us to identify which key factors are involved, to analyze shyness, anxiety, insecurity, and what factors negatively affect a learner’s speech ability and lack of motivation.
Research goals and objectives
This study aims to achieve the following main objectives:
- Identify the main psychological factors that prevent learners from speaking in class.
- identify the causes and solutions to eliminate the factors.
- To help students to know their problems and to study independently and speak fluently
Object and subject of research
If the object of scientific work is psychological factors, the subject is the role and importance of psychological features in the study of English.
Research questions
The purpose of this study is to answer the following questions.
1- What difficulties do learners have in speaking?
2- What are their causes?
3- What are the main psychological factors that negatively affect the speech skills of learners?
4- What solutions are available to overcome these psychological factors?
Research methods and techniques: the method of observation, the method of determination on the basis of quality and the method of analysis on the basis of quantitative indicators.
Research hypothesis
We hypothesize that the low speech ability of the learners is related to psychological factors, mainly: anxiety, shyness, lack of self-confidence and lack of motivation.
This study deals with the main psychological factors influencing speech in the English department of second-year students. In this case, a descriptive method was used to study these factors and problems that hinder learners' speaking ability. Therefore, the research was conducted by describing the theoretical foundations and analyzing the responses of the learners to the questionnaire and interview.
Population / Sample
Third-year students of the Uzbek State University of World Languages were selected as the selected object for this study. Due to the large population, ninety (50) students were randomly selected from (100) students to participate in the survey. In addition to supplementing the findings of previous tools, a semi-structured interview was conducted with eight (10) students.
Research tools
Research tools were used to gather data to answer the research questions, i.e., a structured questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The questionnaire was conducted for second-year English students, and a group of ten (10) students was interviewed to learn more about the main psychological factors, causes, and reasons that prevent students from speaking. was held to obtain. solutions to address these factors have been considered in detail.
6. Research structure
This dissertation consisted of two main parts: theoretical and practical. The first involves a commentary or theoretical basis for the literature, which consists of two chapters. It has to do with speaking skills, its definitions, functions, and some actions and strategies that can be done inside and outside the university. In the second chapter, the main psychological factors are anxiety, shyness, lack of self-confidence and lack of motivation affecting foreign language learners in a speaking session, speech difficulties, causes, consequences and possible solutions to these problems referred to as
Practical significance and application of research results.
The results of the research are used in lectures and disciplines such as general linguistics, psychology, psycholinguistics, translation theory, as well as in conducting seminars, scientific works, dissertations, articles, textbooks, teaching aids, methodologies. can be used in writing. Besides
Work structure and composition. The dissertation consists of an introduction, 3 chapters, conclusions and references.
The main results of the work:
The practical results of our research expand the scientific knowledge about the psychological aspects of learning foreign languages. Provides scientific information related to the development of psychological competence of teachers through scientific and practical study of the most important psychological aspects of learning foreign languages. This expands new scientific perspectives on the psychological aspects of foreign language learning.
A brief summary of the conclusions and recommendations.
Psychological characteristics play an important role in the study of foreign languages, and the role of these factors (fear, motivation and self-confidence) in the study of foreign languages, and therefore suggestions for solutions to these problems.
