0.2- Objective of the work

The purpose of this study is to investigate the value of teaching conditional sentences through communicative grammar in helping the students to communicate effectively and appropriately within the context of the target language. In other words, we would like to verify the effectiveness of teaching conditional sentences through communicative activities so as to involve the students in communication during the lesson procedures.

Our investigation will be carried out through a questionnaire survey and classroom observations in order to provide us with information concerning the problems that teachers and students face as far as the teaching and learning of conditional sentences are concerned. Moreover, we will also carry out some experimentations which aim at finding how far communicative grammar can be suggested as a solution to the encountered problems by holding some “première” and “terminale” classes. Thereby, we will teach conditional sentences communicatively in these class levels in order to see the effectiveness of communicative grammar.
