MY  NATIVE  TOWN  

 

I  live  in  Andizhan.  It  is  the  centre  of  Andizhan  province.  Its  population  is 

more  than  300  thousand  people.  The  history  of  Andizhan  goes  back  more  than 

2000 years ago. At the beginning it was simply a stop-point for merchants on their 

way along the Great Silk Road. They carried valuable goods from India to Europe 

on camel caravans. 

 

Now our city is young and flourishing. Recent reconstructions turned it into 

modern  developed  mega  police  with  its  wide  avenues,  streets,  squares,  trade 

centers, enterprises, sport and cultural places.  

 

Andizhan  is  a  large  industrial  centre.  Many  plants,  factories  and  joint 

ventures  produce  textile  goods,  clothes,  shoes,  food,  automobile  spare  parts, 

paints, different building material and other products.  

 

Farmers  grow  a  lot  of  fruits  and  vegetables,  melons  and  water-melons, 

berries  and  greenery.  They  provide  citizens  with  fresh  products  on  city  markets 

and process them into tomato paste, fruit juice and tins. 

 

Cultural  life  in  Andizhan  is  concentrated  in  Bobur  Theatre,  the  Youth 

Theatre,  “Lola”  Puppet  Theatre,  Museum  of  Local  Lore,  Bobur  Library  and 

Children Library, Alisher Navoi Park and other sites. Zahiriddin Muhammad Bobur, 

Chulpon, Nodirabegim and other prominent ancestors lived in Andizhan.  

 

Andizhan  is  famous  for  its  sport  history.  Andizhan  Boxing  School  trained 

such famous sportsmen as Ruslan Chagaev and Muhammadkodir Abdullaev. Such 

sport  facilities  as  Navruz    Stadium,  the  Youth  Stadium,  Halklar  Dustligi  Stadium, 

Tennis Court, different sport clubs and fitness centres allow the citizens to keep

strong  health.  Olympic  College  prepares  young  generation  for  new  sport 

achievements. 

 

Andizhan is a great educational centre. There is Andizhan State University, 

some institutes, a lot of colleges, lyceums and schools which give deep knowledge 

to young population.  

 

I love my native town. I am very proud of it.
