Divide PP into groups of five. Give each group the following professions (or others if you prefer) written on small bits of paper which are folded so PP cannot see the professions. PP choose a paper. Explain that they are in the basket of a hot-air balloon. The balloon is about to crash. Four people have to be thrown out of the balloon, leaving one winner. The winner is the person who can prove that his/her profession is the most important for society. When the groups have finished, the class should listen to the winner from each group and should choose the best explanation for the 'champion of the class'. Jobs: disc jockey, politician, mother, ambulance driver, computer programmer. Grammar Exercise 1 PP start as follows:
