Foreign National Student Internship Program

Internship Announcement Number: FNSIP 2022/01

POSITION TITLE: Volunteer Intern (2 positions)
OFFICE/LOCATION: American Center Tashkent (ACT)
OPENING DATE: Friday, April 1, 2022
CLOSING DATE: Friday, April 15, 2022
DURATION: 6 months with possible extension up to 1 year
WORK HOURS: Part-time; 20 hours/week (Monday through Friday)

The U.S. Embassy Tashkent is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for Foreign National Student Internship Program in the American Center Tashkent of the Public Affairs Section.

NOTE: There are no benefits attached to the internships and no compensation, nor any future employment rights. The student interns will be retained under a Gratuitous Service Agreement.
BENEFITS: The internship provides students with an excellent opportunity to get useful work experience in an international organization; improve their English skills and develop event planning/program management abilities through active involvement in various programming activities.
MAIN DUTIES:

1. 
   Assisting staff to maintain the ACT collection in proper order and organize outreach activities;
   
2. 
   Preparing book donations (making book lists, putting stickers into books, etc.);
   
3. 
   Assisting clients with computers, TV, ACT resources, book check-ins and check-outs;
   
4. 
   Helping with phone calls and register ACT visitors;
   
5. 
   Assisting staff with managing ACT social media channels;
   
6. 
   Helping staff to maintain the client and application database;
   
7. 
   Downloading, printing and making copies of information from assigned websites;
   
8. 
   Performing other duties as assigned.
   

Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the program:

• 
  At least 18 years old
  
• 
  Non-U.S. citizen legally residing in Uzbekistan
  
• 
  Graduated from a secondary school or specialized secondary educational establishment
  
• 
  Currently enrolled not less than half-time in a higher educational institution in Uzbekistan as a 1-3 course student* pursuing Bachelor’s degree
  
• 
  In good academic standing at the current educational institution
  
• 
  Be a continuing student immediately upon completion of internship
  
• 
  Good computer/internet and customer service skills
  
• 
  Proficient in English, Russian and/or Uzbek
  

*Definition of student: “Student is an individual who is enrolled not less than half-time in a high school, trade school, technical or vocational institute, college, university or other accredited higher educational institution.”
