Literary style When people hear the word 'style', one of the first things that may pop into their minds is clothing. A person's clothing style can be determined by a variety of factors, including work and lifestyle situations. Writing works in a similar way. Authors' literary style is determined by the type of writing they are doing and who their audience is. .

The combination of word choice, figurative language, sentence formation, and formality work together to create a 'voice' through which a story is told. Through literary style, an author can create a mood for the story as well as a manner for describing the characters, plot, and meaning of a story
