Stages of writing: pre-writing, while writing and post writing

• Writing, particularly academic writing, is not easy. It takes study and practice to develop this skill. For ESL/EFL students, it is important to note that writing is a process, not a product. Generally speaking, there are three stages involved in writing a paper: pre-writing, writing, and post-writing. Each stage will be explained in this section.
• Pre-writing- According to its term, it obviously refers to things, tasks, preparations carried out before actual composing. These tasks may include analyzing the writing tasks or topics, generating ideas, collecting data, and outlining.
• Writing- This is the stage of actual composing papers. Once you have done all preparations, you start to write your paper. At this stage, you will write as you have planed and make use of all data and ideas collected in pre-writing. You may use all the strategies you have acquired, such as summarizing and paraphrasing.
• Post-writing- Once you finish your paper, don't think it is done. Actually, it is not complete yet; you need to proofread, edit, and revise your paper till you are totally satisfied with the final copy which is ready to be handed in then.
• The process of writing is no easy feat. Whether the writing is for academic or professional ambitions, writers of all ages face the same challenges: coming up with ideas, creating content, addressing and adequately informing about the topic at hand, incorporating research and facts for validity, presenting the information in an organized format, and polishing the final presentation with regards to word choice, spelling, grammar, usage, and punctuation. Making matters worse, most writers try to accomplish all of the above at once, aiming to get the writing over with as quickly as possible.
