Figure 1.
The main problems of water supply for beneficiaries
The average water supply level is 20 thousand cubic meters per 1 sq. km of the country's territory. At
the same time, the situation with water supply in the republic differs significantly by region. There are
quite water–rich regions, for example, the Yertis River basin (East Kazakhstan region), at the same
time there are also regions where water is scarce (Mangystau region). There are eight river basins on
the territory of Kazakhstan. The territory of Kazakhstan can be divided into eight water management
basins: the Aral–Syrdarya basin, Balkhash–Alakol, Irtysh, Ural–Caspian, Ishim, Nur–Sarys, Shu–
Talas and Tobol–Turgay. In general, Kazakhstan's water resources are distributed unevenly across
regions. Thus, the eastern district accounts for 34.5% of all water resources, the northern–4.2%, the
central–2.6%, the south–eastern–24.1%, the southern–21.2%, the western–13.4% [9–16].
Let's consider the state of water resources of Kazakhstan and the level of load on them. The data in
table 1 clearly show the level of pressure on water resources in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2015–
2019.
