Robin Drogemuller
is Professor of Digital Design at the Faculty of Built Environment and Engineering 
at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia. Prior to joining QUT in 2007 
he was a team leader for the Urban Informatics/Integrated Design Systems team within CSIRO, the 
Australian Government’s national research organization. Prior to this he worked as an academic at 
James Cook University of North Queensland, Townsville, and the Northern Territory University, 
Darwin. Before entering academia he worked as an architect in the public sector in the Northern 
Territory and in the private sector in South Australia.
David Eastburn
holds a Master in Applied Science in environmental education and has more than 
35 years’ experience of working mainly with rural communities in Australia and the Pacific on 
community capacity realization, education and sustainability communication projects. He spent a 
decade in Papua New Guinea. He has worked with communities in rural New South Wales on projects 
to help address rural ‘identity crises’. As Director of Communication with the Murray–Darling

Basin Commission he was responsible for the development and implementation of a major multi-
faceted sustainability communication programme. He is currently working with landholders and the 
Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority to develop a natural resources management plan 
to assist with an agro-ecological future for a 300,000 hectare wetland-based bioregion in southwest 
New South Wales.
Richard Eckersley
’s work explores issues to do with progress and wellbeing, and whether life is getting 
better or worse. It includes measures of progress; the relationships between economic growth, quality 
of life and ecological sustainability; the social and cultural determinants of health and happiness; 
visions of the future; and young people and their world. He is a founding director of Australia 21, 
a non-profit, public-interest research company established to promote interdisciplinary and cross-
institutional networks on important challenges facing Australia this century, and a visiting fellow at 
the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health at the Australian National University 
in Canberra.
