Ex – 3. EX – 5. (p – 44) “The picture of dorian grey”.

Ex 3 p – 44.

1. He was so impressed with the painting of him.

2. He knew Henry would be a had influence on Dorian.

3. Lord Henry’s words made Dorian want to say young forever.

4. He had been to a theatre and was in love with an actress called Sibly Vance.

5. His sister was in love with ‘Prince Charming’ and James did not trust his intentions towards Sibly!

6. Sibly’s acting was awful when his friends joined him to watch her perform.

Ex 5. p – 44.

7. Him portrait had changed – his soft expression had become hard and cruel.

8. He thought Dorian already knew that Sibly was dead because he had sent him a note to tell him.

9. Basil came to confront him about his evil ways, and reacted with horror when Dorian revealed the now hideous portrait.

10. He helped Dorian to get rid of Basil’s body.

11. He thought he must have been mistaken.

12. It was perfect, showing a young and beautiful Dorian.

Ex 5. ( p – 42. )

1. A man New York who was interested in both birds and Shakespeare.

4. This led to many native species of birds dying out, so it caused an ecological disaster. It also caused the plane crash described, as there wouldn’t have been such a large flock of starlings at the site of the crash, if Eugene had not introduced them to America.

1. Starlings 1 were introduced in 1890 by a New Yorker called Eugene Schieffelin.

2. He 2. had made a list of all the songbirds in Shakespeare’s plays and poetry.

4. The starlings thrived, and by the 1940s they 4. had spread across America.

5. They 5. formed gigantic flocks of up to a million birds.

6. Many native species, such as bluebirds and woodpeckers, 6. were driven out.
