The Wilson’s Tales Project Film Award –
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Calling all local, aspirational filmmakers from Northumberland and the Scottish Borders…
We’re thrilled to announce the inaugural Wilson’s Tales film award, encouraging filmmakers to re-interpret one of “Wilson’s Tales.” These were initially published by John Wilson, Editor of the Berwick Advertiser in the 1830’s who became a publishing sensation.
This year’s selection is “The Faithful Wife,” a story connected with the Battle of Flodden, which is also being commemorated this year. For further information on Wilson’s Tales and to read The Faithful Wife, go to http://www.wilsonstales.co.uk.
The Award scheme seeks to encourage local filmmakers and self-governing filmmaking groups to consider re-telling one of Wilson’s early tales in a modern filmed media format.
Films will be judged on their imaginative take on the ‘tale,’ on respect for the original story, and on merit as a moving image work.
An appointed Jury made up of representatives from the Festival, the Wilson’s Tales Project, and a local professional filmmaker, will decide on the winning film, which will be screened as part of the Festival, and will be awarded a cash prize of £300 (with a runner up prize of £200), donated by the Wilson’s Tales Project, to go towards their next filmmaking project.
