INTRODUCTION

  • Conceptual world picture – a global image of the world and its essential features reflected in the individual’s mind as a result of his spiritual activity. (D.U. Ashurova, M.R. Galiyeva) Conceptual world picture, its connection with the processes of cognition, conceptualization and categorization of the world ensures its relevance to cultural linguistics.
  • The term “ world picture” was first introduced by Ludwig Wittgenstein

  • in his work “Logical and philosophical trilogy”. Moreover, since the
    60th of the 20th century, this term has been in the spotlight of many
    scholars. Such as: L Weisberger, W. Humboldt, Попова, Стернин,
    Маслова, Колшанский and Пименова.

Ways of gaining knowledge
Inborn knowledge
Ex: Eating, crying and sleeping of infants
Practical activity (interaction of man with nature) Ex: gardening, Teaching

Mother tongue (Cognitive Inheritance) Ex: concepts, intellectual skills that are learning through their mother tongue. Greeting, respectfulness

Native

  • Presuppositions Ex: He has only a fault. (He has not any other fault)
  • Assumptions. Ex: House prices would remain steady
  • Stereotypes Ex: Children – toys, playing, asking question.
  • Images Ex: Animal – dog, fruit - apple
  • Symbols Ex: a heart – love, water - life

Main types
General. Ex:

LINGUISTIC WORLD PICTURE

  • Knowledge and experience imprinted in lexicon, phraseology, grammar;
  • Verbal explanation of the conceptual world picture;
  • A means of transferring information about the world, people and relations.
  • The linguistic world picture is an important part of an overall conceptual model of the world in the human mind (Кубряковаб 1988, с 169)

  • Conceptual world picture is a knowledge about the real world and its features formed in people’s mind as a result of cognitive activity
  • There are various sources that generate conceptual world picture like inborn knowledge, Practical activity, texts, thinking, Mother tongue and they serve as a means of gathering knowledge.
  • Scientific and National features recognized as the main types of Conceptual world picture are based on different evidences. As well as it is divided into many other types by scientists
  • Linguistic world picture is the expression of using Language and it has several functions.
  • In spite of various differences, Linguistic world picture is an important part of overall Conceptual world picture.
