Different types of public speaking.

Below are the four types of public speaking engagements you may have to do in your career at some point and how you can approach each one for maximum impact.
1.Ceremonial speaking. Ceremonial speaking is when you give a speech on a special occasion. For instance, a graduation speech or an office party. The goal of a ceremonial speech is to captivate an audience and create a felt sense in response to the situation or occasion. These types of speeches often involve a personal or emotional connection to the people you are speaking to.
Keys to a ceremonial speech include:
Personal Touch – when giving a ceremonial speech, you will want to give it a personal touch. This means including a story that goes along with what or whom you are talking about.
Occasion focused – A ceremonial speech needs to stick to the occasion. This is not the time to bring up anything other than who or what is being celebrated.
Remember, part of delivering an effective message is knowing who your audience is and tailoring your message to them. For example – If your boss asks you to give a speech at the company holiday party, you will want to focus on the company, what it has accomplished, and any other relevant tidbits.
Brevity – For those who don’t love to get up in front of a crowd and speak, ceremonial speaking may be the best fit for you. That’s because generally speaking, ceremonial speaking is often brief. This isn’t to say that you speak for only ten seconds! But most of the time, keeping it short is a good rule of thumb. Remember, your audience is there to celebrate so a long-drawn-out speech will cause your audience to become disengaged.
The goal of an inspirational speech is to elicit or arouse an emotional state within an audience. Although other speeches we’ve already explored can incorporate inspirational messages, we will now look at two specific types of inspirational speeches: goodwill and speeches of commencement.
