1.3. Methodology as a practical discipline
The method is also a practical discipline that gives an idea of the methods of work of the teacher, with the help of which the goal of training set in the classroom is achieved. This meaning of the term corresponds to the concept of training technology, or scientific organization of work (NOT). Knowledge of learning technologies (pedagogical technologies) and the ability to use them is an indicator of the professional competence of the teacher, and the teacher must constantly strive to improve it.
It is important to distinguish between two terms: "learning technologies" and "technologies in learning". The term learning technology (or "educational technology") is used to denote the set of methods of the teachers (ways of scientific organization of labor), which ensures the achievement of the lesson learning goals with the greatest efficiency for the lowest possible to achieve them time. Technologies in training imply the use of technical training tools in the educational process, including means of computer support of the educational process.
The most important characteristics of learning technologies are considered to be the following:
* performance (high level of achievement of the set educational goal by each student);
* cost-effectiveness (a large amount of educational material is assimilated per unit of time with the least effort spent on mastering the material);
* ergonomics (training takes place in an environment of cooperation, positive emotional microclimate, in the absence of overload and fatigue);
* high motivation in the study of the subject, which contributes to increasing interest in classes and allows you to improve the best personal qualities of the student, to reveal his reserve capabilities.
In addition to fairly traditional teaching technologies in the form of teacher's work techniques related to explaining new material (analysis, description, comparison, systematization), fixing it (answering questions, performing training exercises), applying it (retelling the text, describing the communication situation, participating in a role-playing game), controlling it (tests, written works in the form of presentation, essays), the following technologies are widely used in the methodology: training in collaboration, project technologies( project method), distance learning, language portfolio, case technology (case study), computer and audio-visual technologies.
