Thirdly, masculine pronouns he, his or him can be substituted by a neutral expression such as ‘he or her,’ he/she, you, one and person.

Level: Intermediate
Time: 25 minutes
Materials: activities, handouts
Objectives:

  • to develop students’ writing skills;

  • to give participants an opportunity to experience a writing lesson as learners

  • to raise awareness of help participants explore the features of a good writing lesson

  • to practice the new topic at the end of the lesson

  2. Repetition the last lesson

  3. Starting the new topic

The main part of the lesson

  1. Task one. Getting ready to write

  2. Task two. Brainstorming

  3. Task three. Group-work: work with a partner or small group, choose one of these topics and make a list what are you going to write.

  4. Task four. Read the paragraph, It is the beginning of an article about Switzerland in a student newspaper. Then write the correct answer the question.

  5. Task five. These sentences are mixed up parts of one paragraph. Number the parts in order: 1) topic sentences. 2) supporting sentences. 3) concluding sentences.

  6. Task six. Giving constructive suggestion

  7. Task seven. Read this description from a travel brochure. Ciricle the adjectives
