Conclusion
In the study, we demonstrated that the language used by native speakers is far from a single standard and is a mixture of normative, regional and socially conditioned variants of vocabulary and grammar. Thus, it seems possible to conclude that the current state of the norm is flexible and characterized by elasticity and variability.
A major influence on the development of the language system is exerted by the influencing language, which plays a dominant role in a certain historical period of time. Thus, English has been influenced by Latin, French, Italian, and Spanish.
Recently, in English, we have observed a characteristic process of rapid simplification of pronunciation, unification of many regional forms and a tolerant attitude towards them within the framework of modern English, as well as a significant increase in variability at the phonetic level, which was the inevitable result of the wide spread of the language.
Vocabulary is rapidly changing under the influence of changes in society and culture. There are more and more borrowings.
If half a century ago the fundamental phenomenon was the desire for standardization, now we are witnessing the reverse process - the popularization of local variants of the language as sources and guardians of regional and national culture in all its diversity.
Currently, it can be confidently stated that under the influence of oral language forms, further liberalization and simplification of the norms of the literary and written language will take place; this is due to the process of introducing broad social strata of society to the number of native speakers of the literary language. The departure from the written norm is a key factor determining the future of the Italian language. In Italian culture, the concept of diversity and variability has always been at the heart of cultural phenomena, including language. The English language is approaching the same pattern today, but it happens on a "non-national" basis.
There are a large number of hypotheses regarding the future of English as an international means of communication. On the one hand, English as a "linguafranca" can be quite convenient, since it no longer has a strong cultural connotation for all users. It can be argued that in the future the international "lexicon" will expand, which will lead to the creation of a universal cultural language. On the other hand, taking into account the statistical data, most likely English may become the language of the European minority in the near future, losing the primacy to Chinese, Hindi and Urdu. The paradox in the development of the English language is that it has gone out of control of its native speakers. Its future will be determined not by native English speakers, but by people speaking different national languages.
