The following activity is suitable for lower-level students
who need to consolidate the collocations in exercise 2 (or
any other collocations they need to learn).
Write each word on separate cards. These are turned face
down and students then play pelmanism, i.e. they turn over
two cards and see if they make a collocation. If they do,
they keep the pair. If they don’t, they are turned face down
again. The winner is the student who gets the most pairs.

Write
CV
on the board. Ask students if they can explain
what this is (it stands for
curriculum vitae
, literally a ‘list of
your life’). Find out if students have ever prepared a CV. Ask:
What does a CV typically include?
Is there a preferred order for the information?
