President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev’s report in extended meeting of Ministers legal office on January 16, 2017, "the results of socio-economic development of the country in the 2016 and the intended economic program for the most important priority areas are devoted to in 2017, " was emphasized that “Education and science education in the implementation of the state policy about the youth - new modern methods of teaching and the introduction of information technology in the education sector as well as the implementation of the tasks for the future of youth, is strategically important for society and the country's future”1.
After gaining its independence in 1991, Uzbekistan launched into a series of international and business relationships with many foreign countries, which resulted in many changes in economics, politics and education of the country. The demand for English started increasing at a rapid pace and soon it became the most popular foreign language taught and learned both in public and private sectors.
Language is a medium of communication, which helps the members of a community in the society, to communicate and interact with one another. This involves both verbal and non-verbal communication. Language focuses on listening and reading that can be named as passive or receptive skills, while speaking and writing can be named as, active or productive skills. Listening is one of the important skills in learning a language. The process of acquiring a language starts with listening and ends up in the production of writing. After birth, a child hears variety of sounds and can distinguish among them. Every language has a common and a natural sequence for the development of the language skills. Listening skill is ranked first of all the four folds. This highlights the importance of listening skill in the life of human beings. Students normally face and encounter listening problems especially in foreign languages.
The language plays a very important role in our life. Out presidents have been paying much attention to learn languages, especially ,English since the independence. So nearly all people know the language. They help us express our emotions. They help us explain what we want and to communicate and hence are the prime tools to express who we are. Thus the knowledge of a language and its proper utilization is very important as it defines us. If languages were not there to help us communicate there would be no difference in our communications and the way the animals communicate. Hence the ways the languages are taught play a very vital role in a person’s life.
Nowadays all countries over the world pay much attention to the educational system. Because education is considered as the mirror of the country’s intelligence. On the other hand the future of the countries is assessed by the youth. They are the future of every nation. So we achieve this success by the education. On this way teachers attempt to have the lessons with modern technology and different methods. Method is a Greek word means “the way to something”. The method of teaching is the way of organizing the activity of student and teacher for achieving to the aim on the appointed education system. We use a majority of methods in teaching process. Actually, they help to provide the lessons to be more effective and interesting.
Most of current language teaching methodology seems to be oriented predominantly toward young learners. This appears a little lopsided as it has long been known that, in spite of the unrivalled linguistic abilities of the young, success in foreign languages is possible in adult life. I look at the special characteristics and needs of the adult foreign language learner , but not in the context of teaching methods, techniques, and materials. I want to concentrate on the quality of the learning environment, which includes everything from the premises where a class is taught to the whole range of interactions between class participants. In the past , when a widely accepted method has been challenged , those who did the challenging usually had a new method that they felt confident was superior to the old one. What is different about the present state of affairs is that no one has as yet proposed a new method , fully formulated, coherent, and sufficiently in harmony with generative-transformational linguistics and cognitive psychology to win wide acceptance.
The actuality of the theme: Last years the imperative need of using a foreign language appears in all areas of a science, manufacture and culture. In present teaching foreign languages effectively with the innovative methods is the main task for our teachers. Researches of methods of teaching have shown, that all named problems will effectively solved, if we apply elaborations of various innovators for amplification of a traditional technique of teaching that can increase essentially quality of teaching foreign (in particular English) language.
Imperfection of the existing approach to teaching foreign language, which is focused only on communicative purposes to the detriment of such kinds of language activity as reading and the writing, that has led to the low level of knowing a foreign language of graduates of secondary school.
Importance and openness of the problem of effective teaching foreign languages have caused its topicality, and consequently the choice of a theme for the given research work.
