So profound has been the influence of the internet that today’s people mostly socialize with one another online. While this practice can be beneficial to some extent, I overall feel that connecting via the Internet can be extremely negative.

Admittedly, communicating online with each other might be a favorable phenomenon for several reasons. Firstly, this sort of interaction allows individuals to connect together in anytime and anywhere thanks to the wide accessibility of the Internet, which seems to strengthen the social bonds among people. Secondly, this development truly comes in handy for those who are introverted and find it a real hurdle to interact with others around them in real life. They can easily find friends online on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter 24/7. Thus, they might feel more affected as well as motivated and forget about isolation.

Nonetheless, hardly does online interaction come without its drawbacks. To begin with, less face-to-face communication may bring about misperception between the communicators. For instance, when joking, it is almost impossible to show body language such as the change of facial expressions. Ironically, this appears to support that it works as a counter-productive way to maintain relationship. Additionally, because one has to move less and stare at screen continuously, connecting with people through the net is likely to cause obesity and harm one’s eyesight, thus impacting his overall wellbeing adversely.
