Britons are spending more time reading books than 30 years ago. according to the latest data available. The average time women spend reading a book jumped from two minutes a day in 1975 to eight minutes in 2000. Men's reading time rose from three to five minutes a day. The numbers of people reading books in Britain also rose over the same period from a low of only 13 per cent to a slightly improved 17 per cent.
