Diachronic linguistics	Greek dia "throughout" (see dia-) + khronos "time"
deals with the historical evolution of language.
41	Descriptive linguistics	Latin descriptivus, from descript- ‘written down’, from the verb describere	it deals with the description of a particular language data using the principles and techniques of general linguistics.
42	Applied linguistics:	Old French aplier, from Latin applicare ‘fold, fasten to’	it deals with the way linguistic concepts, methods and research findings can be applied to a wide range of specific tasks like language teaching, L. acquisition… it uses principles of both general and descriptive linguistics.
43	Morphology	Greek origin meaning "form, shape," from Greek morphē "form, shape; beauty, outward appearance," a word of uncertain etymology	is concerned with the study of the structure, forms and classes of words; it looks at the way words are formed and the way their parts combine to yield different forms
