A Visit To a cotton growing farm

When autumn comes everybody knows that it’s time for cotton picking. Cotton is white gold, the pride of our republic. It ripens by the end of August. During the whole year the farmers do their best to get rich crop of cotton. The crop is so great that farmers can’t pick it themselves. So all the citizens: students, workers, engineers, doctors and etc. go to the farms to help them in their work.
The students of our institute also go to the farms. Life in a farm is not like that of in cities’. The students get up at dawn, wash, have their breakfast and go to the fields. There, the farm leader gives every student a special apron into which they put (pick) the cotton. Then each student is assigned to a separate row. A person who comes to a farm for the first time is deeply impressed by the sight of white cotton.
It’s easy to pick cotton when the balls are open. Daily planned rate is 80 kg. The picked cotton is to be carried to a shed and weighed. During afternoon gap (interval) hot dinner is delivered to the students in the fields.
After dinner and half an hour rest, the students return to their work. They finish daily cotton picking at sunset.
The time in a cotton growing farm helps the students to get acquainted with life and work of our farmers. The students of our institute are always industrious. They make their contribution in the common cause (duty) of our republic.
