CRITICAL REVIEW TEACHING ENGLISH THROUGH 
NEWSPAPERS.
In today's world,learning foreign language is really important.And 
English is one of these languages.Many methods and techniques 
of language learning are being developed.In additon,Kenji Kitao's 
Article “TEACHING ENGLISH THROUGH NEWSPAPERS”lists a 
number of methods. According to instruction techniques used for 
college-level English-as-a-Second Language insturction using 
newspapers are described.The techniques begin with a class 
discussion of how reading newspapers can be useful to students 
of English, instroduction of the English newspapers available 
locally Japan, and advice on getting started reading newspapers. 
Specific reading strategies are getting easier: for 
example,frequent reading;reading brief articles;reading similar 
articles at first; reading without a dictionary;understanding. The 
articles as a whole; and comparing Japanese and English 
language versions.Students are told the kinds of information they 
will find in a newspaper beyond news stories,and how the paper is 
organized. Idiosyncratic features of headlines, including detailed 
words,verb tense, functuation,and abbreviation,are 
explained.Organization and grammar of news articles are also 
detailed.
Of course, methodists have written many other articles on this 
method of teaching. But one of the most important aspects of this 
article is why this method of teaching is published in newspapers.
It would be more effective to publish it in the form of a book, 
rather than in newspapers. for example: it is economically 
beneficial if people buy a whole book instead of a newspaper 
every week.
Secondly, why exactly for college students. Everyone knows 
that the age of college-age students and their level of knowledge 
is much better developed. But this method can also be used in a 
simpler way for school students.
And thirdly, why through newspapers. In the 21st century, in the 
age of technology, everything is replaced by its alternative

version. Today, newspapers are replaced by mobile phones, 
tablets, computers and similar gadgets. And no one needs to buy 
a newspaper.
