Task 1
Find out 10 culture-specific vocabulary (realia) in Uzbek language and try to give their definitions in English. (like you are explaining it to a foreigner). You can choose one or two subtypes of realia (dishes, clothes, holidays, games, etc.

The table below enumerates and analyzes realias of dishes and clothes of the Uzbek language.

1	“G’ilmindi” Thinly sliced, crescents shaped dough fried in butter and sprinkled with yoghurt	G’ilmindi is a traditional meal of Uzbeks settled in mountainous regions of Jizzakh, Samarkand and Kashkadarya. The meal is deep-fried in butter. Each of three houses manually prepares the butter. Settlers found it since it was made with the products they grew themselves. Gilmindi is healthy dish which gives a yearly energy to the person, according to the owners of the food. The process goes many stages and takes long time. Thus, it is rarely prepared in some warm and hot weather, especially at the weekends when all members of the family are present to help. Even though it is a hard activity, the meal is handed from generation to generation ever since.
2	“Hasib” It is a home-made Uzbek liver sausage. Firstly, meat, liver, tail-fat and onion are chopped finely, mixed with washed rice, spices, a little water, all stirred carefully. Then, it is simmered in boiled water.	Hasip is a holiday dish, connected with a tradition of stabbing the lamb when the ritual meat should be used fully. The meal is mainly prepared in cattle breeding places of the country as the food is made from edible integral organs of the cattle. Ready khasip is sold in the city markets of Uzbekistan, in the basins on a small brazier. The national meal “Hasip” can be found on special occasions, in birthday parties, New Year holidays and Navruz. It is mostly consumed in outdoor eating places. Typically, it is served with neeps and tatties.
