Task 5 – Checking your Understanding
Ask your teacher for the ‘Do I understand what each link does?’ Worksheet, you will need a Pen or Pencil to complete this Task.


Task 6 – Keyboard Controls
Click New to open a new script (remember to save your previous script)
In this exercise you will learn, how to control the movement of the sprite with the keyboard arrows using the x and y coordinates.
We can combine this with the previous exercise to make the sprite walk around the screen.

You will have to use the Cat again for this exercise and will have to rename the costumes

Task 7 – Using the Mouse pointer to sense movement
In this program we will make the one sprite chase another sprite using the X and Y mouse positions. You will need to start a New Script for this program.

  1. Click New in the top left hand corner (Remember to save your previous work).



  1. C lick on the Scissors and then click on the Cat Sprite to delete him.





  1. Click on the middle icon and from the animals folder select two sprites Fox 1 and Rabbit 1.



  1. C lick on the Shrink tool and make the two sprites smaller.



  1. Rename each Sprite Fox and Rabbit (go back to task 4 if you have forgotten how to do this)

  2. Click on the Rabbit Sprite just under the stage, this will make sure that the script you are about to make is attached to the correct sprite.



  1. Click the Control button and drag the across and place it into the scripts area.



  1. Click the Control button and drag the across and place it underneath.



  1. Click the Control button and drag the across and place it between the

When clicked do the action forever, if the condition is true then run the blocks inside.




  1. Click the Numbers button and drag the across and drop it in to the hexagon shape in the if command. It should look like this



  1. Click the Sensing button and drag the across and drop it inside the green hexagon, select fox from the drop down menu.



  1. Now Save your work as ‘Chase Me’.



  1. Click the Motion button and drag the across and place it within the if loop leave the value as 10.



  1. Click the Motion button and drag the across and place it underneath the in the if loop. Change the value to fox from the drop down menu.
