The article deals with the prevention of spontaneous combustion at the mine "Shargun". The causes of spontaneous combustion, the
 
stages of spontaneous 
combustion, the factors affecting the spontaneous combustion of Shargun coal are studied. Methods for controlling the risk of endogenous fires in the mine, the impact of the 
ventilation method on the ability to analyze the gas content in the blood atmosphere, measure the moisture content, determine the air temperature and the self-Flammability 
of water in the early stages of occurrence in the active and adjacent extraction areas. Methods of insulation in extinguishing fires, requirements for insulating lintels, 
measures to prevent self-heating of coal, inhibition of oxidation processes by regulating the thermophysical parameters of the air entering the carbon layers.
