Synthesis, characterization, optical and anti-bacterial properties of benzothiazole Schiff bases and their lanthanide (III) complexes

General procedure for preparation of ligands: 

Schiff bases were synthesized by dropwise addition of 1,3-benzenedicarboxaldehyde (1.0 mmol) 

in  ethanol  (5  ml)  to  the  stirring  ethanolic  solution  of  thiazole-amines  (2.0  mmol).  Reaction 

mixtures were stirred for 30 min followed by reflux for 7-8 hrs and the progress of reaction was 

monitored  by  TLC.  Upon  completion  of  reaction,  the  solutions  were  cooled,  filtered,  washed 

thrice with ethanol and air dried.
