IV. Why this course ?
Hybridization and selection in segregating progenies of mulberry are very difficult
because of its heterozygosity. In order to aid the selection in mulberry,
biotechnological tools, viz., Tissue culture techniques, molecular markers and
recombinant DNA technology are more useful to aid in selection. Application of
these techniques will shorten the breeding procedure. Hence this course.
V. Aim of the course
The course is designed to equip the PG students with recent developments in the
field of Tissue culture techniques, molecular markers, mapping and sequencing
and recombinant DNA technologies applied both in mulberry and silkworm
improvement.
