IV. Aim of the course
This course will educate students, methods of harvesting of yieldable plant/ plant
parts of herb shrub, trees, etc. to increase the value of product, post harvest
technology and will make them aware about instruments/ equipments used to
extract essential oil and also operation of machines for preparation of tablets,
mixture, tinctures, etc.
V. Theory
UNIT I
Value addition – concepts and procedures. Drying and grading of various forest
products. Preparation of powders, aqueous and alcoholic extracts essences, etc.
Preparation of tablets, mixtures, balms, ointments, etc. Bulk storage and packaging.
UNIT II
Basic and advanced concepts of trade and marketing, marketing under disorganized
and organized sector. Village and regional markets, state, national and international
market of forest products. Internet marketing practices for latest market value and
other pattern of fluctuations for high value forest products. Concept of e-market
and quality standards.
