Three types of subordinate clause with main clause structure
These
are all exceptions,
in different ways, to 12.8.2 above, in that the
subordinate clause forms part of a main clause sentence (cf. 12.8.1) but
has a word order that is similar to that of the main clause (see 12.3).
1 Att-clauses with a ‘topic’:
When a non-subject comes immediately
after the conjunction att,
the finite
verb and subject are inverted:
