Summer Camps Protection, Leraning and Fun!

While it is important that children have fun and enjoy the summer camp while 
learning new skills, it is essential that this is done in a way that ensures their 
protection. The dimensions of the protection of children during the Summer 
Camp include:
 
Security 
(such as secured premises where the camp is located, food safety, 
various games and activities that take place).
 
Institutional Arrangements
(this includes the process of selection, training 
and employment of personnel for the camps operation and complaints 
mechanism; identifying cases of children at risk and/or with special needs; 
building the program activities; and fund raising).
 
Children’s Health and Welfare
(includes ‘promotion of emotional, physical 
and psychological health, and making the camp activities a positive experience 
for children.
 
Building and strengthening of self protection skills and behaviours
in children as the summer camp serves as a good opportunity for young 
children to adopt positive behaviour, as well as to acquire knowledge about 
their rights and learn techniques that will allow them to protect themselves 
and other children.
Attention to these aspects should be given before, during and after the implementation 
of summer camp activities.
