Coping with online presentations 167
y
Get a separate webcam on a tripod.
Presenting from a chair is
not as easy as presenting standing up. However, webcams at-
tached to screens make it almost impossible to stand. If you have
a separate webcam on a desktop tripod, you can stand when
presenting. That will make you more comfortable and improve
your voice as you breathe better when standing.
y
Make your online presentations interactive.
An interactive
presentation is more engaging for the audience. However, it is
crucial for you as an online presenter. With interaction, you get
a sense of viewer participation. This boosts your energy as you
realise people are engaging with your material.
y
Make your recordings professional.
Use software to trim the
start and end of your video to improve its professionalism. Pow-
erPoint can do this for you. Or there are free online video editing
programs that can help.
