The novel, considered the author's most famous work, was first published in 1922 in the newspaper "Vakt". The work was first published as a book in 1923. In 1937, after the author's changes, the novel "Cholikushi" was perfected.

Not only is Cholikushi a romantic novel, but it is also important as a novel that skillfully critiques the social problems of the time. Cholikushi is a work that marks the beginning of a new and modern era in Turkey. In addition to the last part of the novel, four parts are narrated in the language of the protagonist Feride as a notebook, and cover the events from the age of two and a half to the age of twenty-five, until his love reaches Cameron. The fifth part tells the story of Feride and Cameron's discovery.
