LEARNING RUSSIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN ONLINE ENVIRONMENT: OPPORTUNITIES AND PECULIARITY. The article deals with opportunities 
of learning Russian as a foreign language in online environment for a different cohort of learners. The author presents a classification of online services and online 
resources for learning Russian language based on the organization of learning process with an instructor (in a synchronous or asynchronous modes of communi-
cation) or without his/her participation. Thus, the choice of online resources and language services depends on learners’ goals and specifics of target audience. It 
has been recently noted that learning Russian language online is becoming popular among adult learners from different countries. The article provides the specifics 
of teaching this category of learners. The work also describes the specific features of an individual online session with an instructor in an oral synchronous form of 
communication. The author comes to a conclusion that it is necessary to consider the principles of teaching adults and implement the principles of flexible learning. 
A flexible learning model becomes a key factor in the work with adult learners in online environment. The present topic is chosen for studying due to the tendency 
of learning languages in online environment instead of a traditional “face-to-face” approach.
