Speech on lesson plan
In the final assignment from TIS subject on the second day as a continuing part, we were given such kind of task to make a lesson plan on the basis of the given topics. In the previous academic years, we were taught the procedures of the lesson plan: how to make it, how to organize it with materials and how to achieve it successfully, so it is not a new thing.

  1. With regard to objectives of the lesson, they express realistic approaches and procedures. All of them can be achieved, not just academic words. It is enough just try to do one’s best. It is undeniably true that I could achieve the objectives of the lesson. This proves with the fact that all of the activities used in the lesson plan guide students to learn the theme effectively. Of course, students’ background knowledge about the theme is crucial.

  2. Without any doubt, I can say that all of the activities I made are effective for learners. The help of visual aids used in the lesson encourages students to be successful in learning the theme. The topic of the lesson is “Inventions and Discoveries”. Most students do not get acquainted with the difference between the terms “invention” and “discovery”. By doing exercises given, students get information about the exact years of best inventions that change the world and the names of inventors that contributed to the world development.

  3. The lesson mostly focuses on being student-centered. The role of the teacher can be noticed in just giving instructions to students. The mode of interaction of students is mixed: individual, pair work, group work or subgroup work. Anyway, whatever the mode of working, all activities guide students to learn the theme effectively. Teacher in some parts participates in students’ discussion, check the answers corrects wrong answers and monitors students’ progress.

  4. The lesson is appropriate for the class with the mixed-abilities. It can be illustrated that all activities have more open-ended possibilities. There are open-class discussion about the classroom situation – to ensure the best for everyone it is better to acknowledge the situation and for everyone to agree on the given case. Most exercises are guided to work as a group, because if the group works with a set of information, they divide the information between them, being forced to work together.

  5. As the lesson I made is well-organized, it can be recommended to future English teachers as a useful material. I can say about the lesson why it is useful that materials provided are made to lead students to gain full understanding about the topic for students with the level B1. It offers not only academic teaching materials, but also authentic texts like extracts from the article. These are of great importance in being a successful lesson for learners.

  6. So far, I haven’t done a lesson plan in the theme “Inventions and Discoveries”. Before the beginning of writing the lesson plan, I collected relevant materials, exercises, reading passages, videos, worksheets and handouts. When I began to write it, all materials were ready and the only thing left that had to be done was putting them into structure. While preparing it, personally, I also learned new terms, knew about great inventions in the history, their inventors and the years when they were invented. All in all, the process of writing the lesson plan became full of new experience in conducting the lesson effectively. As the final part of my speech, I can say that it has been the best lesson plan in my academic years until this time.
