SPEAKING PART I (COOKING AND HOUSEWORK)
1. Do you like cooking?
I’ m afraid I don’t. Cooking is not my thing. It is hard for me to distinguish different spices, and I usually end up cooking something others would not bother to taste. So l am a lousy cook.
2. Who usually cook in your family?
Well, both of my parents cook at home, and it depends on who has the time. There is a stereotype that women should be responsible for the housework like cooking, but actually men also have the obligation to do that. And sharing housework can help avoid conflicts.
SPEAKING (SINGING)
Do you think singing can bring happiness to people?
My answer is definitely yes; if someone has a talent for singing, he or she will probably feel great sense of achievement to finish the whole song. And when somebody’s stressed out, singing is like a way to blow off some steam. And the same goes for everyone who is in bad mood. Singing the songs with bouncy tunes is likely to lift the spirits
Do you often sing?
I love to sing, but I don’t sing in public. I sing almost every day when I’m alone in my room. I’m not too good at singing, I can’t reach high or too low notes, and sometimes I forget words to songs
When do you like to sing?
Generally, I am not a frequent singer, and I prefer to sing a song in my free time because I have some kind of plans to reduce my stress level, so evening time is a quite compatible for me
What kinds of music do you like to sing?
I must say it depends on my mood. If I’m so down, singing some songs which bring back some past memories could make me feel somehow released, and on the days when I’m so motivated, so energetic, I would sing the songs that are full-of-hope and sunshine and dreams. Yeah, so you can tell that I don’t stick with a certain kind of music
Is it difficult to sing well?
Indeed. Unless you have a beautiful voice as a Gift from God, or you at least have gained yourself some basic knowledge about notes, vocal ranges and beat, etc., that it’s easier for you to go further in your singing career, otherwise yes, singing well would be a huge challenge.
Do you want to be a singer?
No, I don’t want to become a singer because becoming a singer is not a piece of cake, and it’s required extreme struggle, so I don’t have a very good talent, so these factors don’t give me a chance.
SPEAKING PART II
Describe a movie you watched recently and want to watch again
What the movies is about
Where you watched it
Why you liked it
Why you want to watch it again
The film I wanna talk about is A beautiful Mind. It’s a biographical drama film based on the life of the American mathematician John Nash, a Nobel Laureate in Economics.
The movie is about a math genius who struggles with mental disorder for decades. At some point in life, He stops taking medication and eventually manages to deal with his erratic symptoms with the full support and care from his wife.
My decision to watch this masterwork came a bit too late. It was released in 2020, I saw this movie for the first time when I was asked about it when I participated in the Zakovat competition.
I think people love this movie for similar reasons. The plot holds the audience spellbound with its unexpected twists and the spectacular performance of the leading actors, especially Russell Crowe. He brings the character to life by avoiding sensationalism and building with small behavioral details. He shows a man who descends into madness and then, unexpectedly, regains the ability to function in the academic world.
The movie was well received by critics and won several academy awards a year later. After watching the movie, I did more research on John Nash and found that for many years he was a recluse, wandering around the campus, talking to no one drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes all by himself. It’s just amazing that he managed to defeat the demon trapped inside himself after living with it for such a long time. I’ll definitely watch it again soon.
