forms expected at the level?
Is the grammar range the candidate uses adequately wide for
the level?

The Marking Examiners assess:

ectiveness of the candidate’s choice of vocabulary 
• the control the candidate has over the vocabulary expected at the level 
• the range of vocabulary the candidate uses to deal with the task
Does the candidate have the lexical resource to give and 
exchange views as required? 
Is the vocabulary range the candidate uses adequately wide
for the level?
How often do errors occur?
Do errors impede communication?
Pronunciation, Intonation and Fluency 
The Marking Examiners assess:
•
the candidate’s clarity of pronunciation
•
the use of intonation to support meaning
•
the extent to which the candidate is able to maintain the 
fl
ow of language 
Is the candidate’s pronunciation clear for the level?
Do any major pronunciation errors occur? 
Do errors in pronunciation, stress and intonation patterns put
strain on the listener or impede communication?
At higher levels, is the candidate’s intonation used to convey
and enhance meaning? 
How well can the candidate maintain the 
fl
ow of language?
