VERVIEW
 
Eurasia Foundation (EF)
announces a notice of funding opportunity for Youth Leadership 
Grants (YLG) for applicants from Uzbekistan. This is an open competition for grant funding 
under 
Social Innovation in Central Asia Program (SICA)
, a five-year program funded by the 
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Eurasia 
Foundation. The goal of the program is to cultivate a vibrant and responsive civil society in 
Central Asia.
Youth Leadership Grants are designed to support emerging youth leaders from Uzbekistan to 
implement projects that will contribute to the social, economic, cultural or environmental 
development in their communities. Youth Leadership projects will both be led by youth and 
focus on youth beneficiaries. Priority will be given to community development projects that 
build infrastructure, services and systems that improve the lives of youth; youth empowerment 
initiatives that promote volunteerism, respect for diversity and inclusivity; and youth advocacy 
initiatives that promote youth involvement in local decision-making and promote youth 
constituency needs. 
YLG project applications must: 
•
Identify a priority problem or challenge that the local community needs to address 
•
Focus on effectively educating peers 
•
Describe how the project will support gender equality and integration 
•
Demonstrate and promote positive change in practice in the community to address the 
identified problem or challenge using innovative approach 
Example projects may include, but not limited to: 
•
Book drives at a university or local shelter 
•
Volunteer events for different youth categories and children 
•
Mentoring program at school for children 
•
Public awareness activity on social issues impacting young people 
•
Transforming community development through arts and culture 
•
Training on healthy lifestyles for teenagers
