Helpful Tips
Location,
Location, Location
Choose a well-lit space to record your answers. Positioning yourself against a neutral
background, like a wall, and in a quiet space, will help avoid a distracting background.
Remember, your answers will be reviewed by members of our team – if you’re
distracted, they
will be too.
Practice Makes
Perfect
You can record answers to practice questions
as many times as you like
in order to feel
comfortable with the experience. We strongly recommend that you try a
few practice rounds
before completing the real questions.
Take your time. Practice rounds are a good opportunity to work out the kinks – for instance,
talking too fast or too slow, swaying, mumbling words, or gesturing at your screen.
Set Yourself Up
for Success
Eye Contact –
Remember to make natural, periodic eye contact with the camera instead of the
image of yourself on the screen. Looking at the camera will simulate
eye contact with your
reviewer which makes the conversation feel more natural. It’s okay to break eye contact, as
you might during an in-person interview, to glance at notes or regain composure.
Avoid a Jumpy Camera
– We recommend stabilizing your device
on a steady surface to
prevent any shaking during the recording.
Fill the Camera Frame
– It’s suggested that you position yourself in front of the camera – at
eye level – and that we see all of your head and shoulders.
Be Prepared
Test your computer and internet connection during the practice rounds to
ensure everything is
working as expected. Double-check that you have a full battery charge to complete the
questionnaire.
Dress to Impress
Dress the same way you would if you were meeting someone in person. Yes, that means no
pajama bottoms.
