Foundations are the underground part of a building, which is a structure that absorbs the weight of the building and transfers it to the foundation.

The walls, depending on their function and location, act as an internal and external barrier, that is, protecting the room from the effects of the external environment or separating the rooms from each other, at the same time they also serve as load-bearing.

Walls are divided into load-bearing and non-load-bearing types. Lifting walls carry the weight that falls from the structures, fixtures, furniture, and so on. Both interior and exterior walls can be load-bearing. The barrier (curtain) walls that divide buildings into smaller rooms are considered load-bearing. Such walls may also be in the form of suspended walls placed on foundations or foundation beams, self-supporting and suspended on columns.

Suspended walls will rest on horizontal elements at the height of each floor.

The function of individual supports (lifting vertical elements - columns, poles, trusses) is to transfer loads from the floor slabs to the foundation.

Inter-storey cladding divides the interior space of the building into floors and is laid on beams, which are specially fastened to the columns, called beams, and in some cases fastened directly to the column. Interfloor enclosures interconnect the walls and provide their dominance while increasing permanent and temporary loads and increase the spatial visibility of the entire building. Depending on the location in the building, the partitions are divided into multi-storey coverings (divides the buildings into floors), basement partitions (separates the first floor from the basement) and attic partitions (separates the top floor from the attic).
