Physical Configuration

The SPS supports two physical configuration modes:

• 
  Deployed independently in a cabinet
  

When a large capacity is required, the SPS can be deployed independently in a cabinet.

• 
  Deployed with other OSTA2.0-compliant products
  

When being used in a solution, the SPS is deployed independently in a cabinet. If the number of subracks of the SPS does not reach the maximum number (2) allowed by a cabinet, the SPS can share a cabinet with other products used in the solution.
The SPS provides flexible hardware configurations to support different subscriber capacities. This flexibility helps carriers to save hardware costs when the number of subscribers is small and allows the carrier to quickly expand the capacity when the number of subscribers increases.
The SPS and other mainstream products in the Huawei core network solution adopt the standard OSTA 2.0 platform. Therefore, the SPS and other products can be installed in the same cabinet and managed in a centralized manner.

Typical Configuration

Figure 1 shows the typical configuration of the SPS that functions both as a Diameter routing agent (DRA) and an IP signaling transfer point (STP).

If the SPS provides the STP narrowband link access function, ETIA2 boards must be installed to process narrowband services. Figure 2 shows the typical configuration for narrowband link access.

Figure 1 shows the typical configuration of the SPS that provides the 10GE aggregation function.
