BİLDİRİ ADI (PAPER NAME) : The life and work of the orientalist A.Kh. Babakhodzhaev:
Trajectories of transformation in the process of adaptation
ÖZET (300 KELİME)-SUMMARY (300 WORDS) :
The biography of the orientalist professor and kari (قَارِئ) A.H. Babakhodzhaev (1904, Zarabog, Surkhandarya region - 1975, Tashkent) is a prominent representative of the status group for receiving khoja (خواجه), who used all methods of education and diplomas to integrate into Soviet society. ... They moved from the religious sphere, associated with the reproduction and transmission of tradition, knowledge and information. This was due to the comparison of the capabilities of the Khoja with the needs for the functioning of the world of work. The process of skills conversion, which took place against the background of discrimination, overcoming barriers to social mobility, led professionally and socially adapted Khojas to become full-fledged Soviet specialists. There were modern systems and institutions that known for being dominated by the former elite. These are primarily scientific and educational institutions. Factors such as the presence of education, knowledge of the language, the presence of useful connections, and attitude towards the Soviet regime were significant in this process.
In general, in the period up to the middle of the 20th century, Khojas characterized by intensive professional mobility, frequent changes in jobs and professions. The development of new professions was most characteristic of the wealthy part of the Khoja, who did not have a permanent job. Thus, professional integration into Soviet Khoja society is a history of migrations between institutions and professional spheres.
In the context of the above, in the article that analyzed the transformations in the biography and activities of scientists from the hereditary pre-revolutionary elite, representatives prevailed among the orientalists of Uzbekistan.
