rethinking of the combination as a whole and is a special case of a secondary non-autonomous nomination (there are also primitive
idioms such as twist into a ram's horn, after a rain on Thursday, etc.)[2; 326-356;].
All types of secondary nomination are based on the associative nature of human thinking. In the acts of the secondary
nomination, associations are established by similarity or contiguity between some properties of elements of the extra-linguistic
series, reflected in the already existing meaning of the name, and the properties of the new denoted, called by rethinking this
meaning. Associative features, actualized in the process of secondary nomination, can correspond to the components of the
rethought meaning, as well as to such semantic features that, without being part of the distinctive features of meaning, correlate
with the background knowledge of native speakers about a given reality or about the internal form of meaning.
The rethinking of meanings in the processes of secondary nomination proceeds in accordance with the logical form of
tropes - metaphor, metonymy, etc. and functional transfer: "pen" (for writing), "top" (happiness), "sharp" (about perception), "
white crow "- a metaphor," class "(about students)," stupid "(a question, an act)," before the roosters "- metonymy," burn "(about a
light bulb) - a functional transfer, etc. rethinking a name into a secondary meaning, form the internal form of that meaning.
Depending on the preservation or oblivion of the internal form, motivated or unmotivated meanings of words or phraseological
units are distinguished (cf. the erased internal form of the words "bonds", "excite", the combinations "red goods", "sharpen the
fringes" and still alive - in "satellite", "Oppress", "sharpen teeth")[3;158-159].
Secondary nomination, including indirect, is characteristic not only for the lexical composition of the language, but also
for affix means and syntactic constructions: it exists wherever a rethinking of the linguistic essence has taken place - autonomous
or non-autonomous. A special case of nomination is indirect nomination in the so-called indirect, or intensional, contexts (for
example, in sentences introduced by the union what: He said, believed, doubted that ...). This type of nomination is studied in the
theory of reference.
Nominations that correspond to the internal laws of language development and satisfy the needs of the linguistic
community for new nominative means are usually included in the common vocabulary. Outside it are names created for the needs
of highly specialized terminology or arising in socially closed collectives (slang, etc. nominations), as well as in individual author's
linguistic creativity.
